Pune Hit By Heavy Rains For Second Consecutive Day, Streets Inundated, Normal Life Disrupted
Pune experienced pre-monsoon-like weather conditions on Sunday, marked by the development of thunderstorm clouds in the afternoon and evening, followed by torrential rains lashing parts of the city for a second consecutive day.
According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Wadgaonsheri recorded over 111 mm of rainfall by 6:15 pm, while Lohegaon received 48 mm by 8:30 pm, reported Hindustan Times.

Despite weaker monsoon conditions, Pune has seen an uptick in rainfall activities since Friday, largely due to local weather phenomena, particularly cloud formation over the city.
The last two days have seen thunderstorm cloud development, accompanied by lightning, moderate rain, and gusty winds of 40-50 kph.
Similar weather patterns have been observed in other districts, including Nasik, Aurangabad, Hingoli, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur, Sindhudurg, Dhule, Palghar, Osmanabad, Ratnagiri, and Thane.
The weather conditions in Pune over the past two days do not align with typical monsoon rain patterns.
"Currently, the weather is hot and humid from morning to afternoon. From the afternoon onwards, cloud formation starts over Pune city, gradually developing from Cumulus to cumulonimbus clouds around evening hours. The areas over which the cloud eye passes receive more rainfall, along with thunder and lightning activities," explained Anupam Kashyapi, former head of the Weather and Forecasting division at IMD Pune.
In contrast, a monsoon pattern involves cloudy conditions throughout the day with continuous rainfall.
On Saturday, Hadapsar recorded 126 mm of rainfall, while the Magarpatta area received 63 mm.
In addition to Yerawada, roads in Kalyaninagar, Koregaon Park, and Wanowrie were waterlogged, making navigation difficult for commuters.
