Mumbai, April 2: The opinion poll survey conducted by Times Now-Cvoter has predicted the BJP alliance to win 55 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam. The ruling Congress is, however, predicted to win 53 seats.

The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) of Badruddin Ajmal can win in 12 seats, the survey said.

The BJP is contesting this election with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People's Front (BPF).

In terms of vote-share, however, the Congress may get 37 per cent, which is two per cent more than the BJP, the survey said. The AIUDF is likely to get 12 per cent vote-share.

The two-phase election to Assam's 126-seat Assembly this year is set to witness a triangular contest between the ruling Congress led by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, BJP alliance led by Sarbananda Sonowal and AIUDF.

In the 2011 Assembly elections, the Congress bagged 78 seats in the 126-member Assembly. The AIUDF won 18 seats. The BJP, which is expected to emerge as the congle-largest party, had little existence in the state's previous polls.
