Opinion poll 2016: Jayalalithaa to return to power, says Times Now-CVoter survey

Mumbai, April 2: The pre-poll survey conducted by Times Now-India-TV-CVoter has predicted the return of the AIADMK to power in Tamil Nadu with its supremo J Jatalalithaa becoming the chief minister of the state for the record sixth time.

The predictions, if come true, will mark an unusual moment in Tamil Nadu's politics since it will be the first time since the days oAIADMK founder MG Ramachandran that a ruler will be able to beat the anti-incumbency factor to win a second term in a row.

The AIADMK alliance is expected to win 130 seats in the 234-member Assembly while the DMK-Congress combine may bag 70 seats. Vijaykanth's DMDK, who recently joined the People's Welfare Front, may win 14 seats.

The AIADMK combine's vote-share may be 30 per cent, which is a good 20 per cent less than that garnered last time. The DMK-Congress may win 32 per cent vote-share while the DMDK may get eight per cent vote-share.

The BJP is likely to draw blank in the ensuing elections.

The C-Voter's survey held in March had predicted the AIADMK to win 116 seats and the DMK to win 101 seats. In terms of vote-share, however, the AIADMK's figure was reduced by two per cent (39 per cent from 41 per cent) and the DMK's by eight per cent (32 per cent from 40 per cent). The BJP's vote-share is also predicted to come down by one per cent from five per cent in March.

Cong-DMK look favourites in Puducherry

The Congress-DMK combine may win 17 of 30 seats in the Puducherry Assembly, the survey said. The currently ruling AINR Congress may get just seven seats.
