Mumbai's 'Aqua Line'? Newly-Opened Worli Metro Station Flooded As Early Monsoon Batters Maximum City | WATCH
The Worli underground metro station in Mumbai has been inundated as the monsoon arrived early in the financial capital.
Mumbai has been experiencing heavy rainfall since last night, continuing into the morning, leading to waterlogging in various parts of the city and causing significant traffic disruptions.

Footage from the scene shows the Worli metro station submerged due to relentless rain, with water reaching the station's gates and platform areas, threatening to seep into the metro system itself.
Multiple videos circulating online show the platform completely submerged in murky water. Passengers were seen trudging through the flooded station with trousers rolled up and wearing slippers.
Another video, recorded from within the metro premises, showed water dripping onto the platform from the roof, indicating a possible leak. The incident appears to highlight inadequate drainage infrastructure.
Mumbai Metro Line 3, which runs between Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli, only became operational on 10 May. The flooding at this newly inaugurated station has sparked criticism and concerns regarding the quality of construction and preparedness.
Mocking the situation, a user on social media platform X quipped, "We are idiots. They were serious when they named it Aqua Line."
In a separate incident, a section of Kemps Corner Road in South Mumbai caved in, resulting in restricted traffic. Kemps Corner is an upscale area located at the convergence of Breach Candy, Warden Road, Pedder Road, and Nepean Sea Road.
The affected road section near Warden Collection has been shut to all vehicles heading from Kemps Corner to Mukesh Chowk.
Authorities have directed all vehicles to take a U-turn and return towards the Kemps Corner flyover. No traffic is being permitted from Kemps Corner in the direction of Nepean Road.
Officials are present at the scene, and commuters have been advised to use alternate routes.
Monsoon Reaches Maharashtra
The southwest monsoon reached Maharashtra on Sunday, marking the earliest onset of the rainy season in the state in 35 years, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall along the western coast - including Kerala, Karnataka, coastal Maharashtra, and Goa - over the next week. Mumbai has been experiencing light to moderate showers since the early hours of the morning.
Weather officials reported that the Nariman Point area in Mumbai received 40 mm of rainfall between 6 am and 7 am, Grant Road recorded 36 mm, Colaba registered 31 mm, and Byculla saw 21 mm of rain.
The city's eastern and western suburbs are also experiencing light showers.
The downpour has impacted flight and rail operations in parts of the city.
Airlines such as SpiceJet and Air India have advised passengers to check the status of their flights before proceeding to the airport.
