Mumbai Hit-And-Run: Cops Recreate Crime Scene; Accused Mihir Shah, Driver Questioned

The Mumbai police Thursday held a recreation of crime scene in the investigation of the Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case involving Mihir Shah, the son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah.

The incident occurred in the Worli area of Mumbai, resulting in the death of Kaveri Nakhwa (45) and injuries to her husband Pradeep, who were riding a scooter when they were hit by Shah's car.

During a recreation of the events from CJ House in Worli to Sea Link, Shah was present along with his driver, Rajrishi Bidawat. This reconstruction was a crucial part of the police investigation.

Shah and Bidawat were made to sit face-to-face during interrogation, where both confessed to their involvement in the crime. Shah admitted to driving the car at the time of the crash and knowing that Kaveri Nakhwa was stuck under the car but did not stop.

Shah, aged 24, reportedly expressed remorse for his actions during interrogation. After the incident, Shah fled the scene in an auto-rickshaw, abandoning his car and driver.

He initially went to a friend's residence in Goregaon and then to his sister's place in Borivali before eventually escaping to a resort in Shahapur, Thane district, with friends and family.

The police apprehended Shah on Tuesday in Virar, Mumbai, shortly after tracking him down when his friend briefly turned on his phone. It was revealed that Shah and his friends had consumed a large amount of alcohol, reportedly around 12 large pegs of whiskey, at a bar in Juhu prior to the incident.

This bar, Vice-Global Tapas Bar, located in Juhu, faced action from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which demolished 3,500 square feet of allegedly unauthorised constructions and suspended its license.
