Maharashtra Weather Report: IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert For Mumbai, Thane, Pune
Several parts of Maharashtra witnessed relentless rainfall on Tuesday, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue weather alerts for multiple districts. The commercial capital, Mumbai, experienced heavy showers, particularly in western suburbs such as Bandra, Andheri, and Goregaon, and eastern regions like Mulund and Vikhroli.
The continuous downpour has led to significant waterlogging in the city, with the Andheri Subway submerged under two feet of water, forcing authorities to shut it down for traffic. The Mumbai Traffic Police confirmed that vehicular movement has been diverted via the Gokhale Bridge as a precautionary measure.

Amid worsening conditions, the Mumbai Police have urged residents to avoid venturing into coastal and low-lying areas, citing potential risks due to water accumulation and strong sea winds.
In its latest advisory, the IMD issued:
- Red Alert for Raigad, warning of extremely heavy rainfall.
- Orange Alerts for Mumbai, Thane, and Pune, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rains.
- Yellow Alert for Palghar, suggesting the possibility of moderate rainfall.
The IMD's daily bulletin also forecasted light to moderate rainfall across Mumbai and nearby regions for the next four days. Additionally, residents have been warned of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in isolated areas, especially in Mumbai and Thane, over the next 3-4 hours.
These weather conditions have severely disrupted daily life across the city, particularly affecting commuters. Waterlogged roads, traffic diversions, and delayed public transport services have been reported from multiple locations.
