Maharashtra Opinion Poll Predicts Landslide Victory For Mahayuti, Check Seats Maha Vikas Aghadi Can Win
With only a couple of weeks left for Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, Matrize opinion poll suggests a decisive win for the Mahayuti alliance. The alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde), and NCP (Ajit Pawar), is projected to secure between 145-165 seats out of 288. Meanwhile, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is expected to win around 106-126 seats.
The survey, conducted from October 10 to November 9, included responses from 1,09,628 individuals. It indicates that Mahayuti might achieve a vote share of 47%, surpassing MVA's anticipated 41%. Other parties are predicted to gather about 12% of the votes. This potential outcome could be a significant setback for MVA, which recently performed well in the Lok Sabha elections.

Regional Support and Political Dynamics
The BJP is anticipated to receive substantial backing in Western Maharashtra and Vidarbha with a projected vote share of 48% each. In Thane-Konkan, support is expected to be even higher at 52%. Conversely, the Congress-led MVA is likely to perform well in North Maharashtra and Marathwada with expected vote shares of 47% and 44%, respectively.
Recent political shifts have seen both Shiv Sena and NCP experience splits, adding complexity to the election landscape. The MVA has faced challenges over seat-sharing agreements and selecting a chief ministerial candidate. Despite these hurdles, they remain optimistic about their chances of forming the next government.
Impact of Recent Elections
The recent Haryana election victory has boosted morale within the BJP-led Mahayuti. This success has revitalised their campaign efforts for the Maharashtra Assembly polls. In contrast, MVA's strong performance in May's general elections saw them secure 31 out of 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra while NDA managed only 17.
The upcoming elections are crucial for both alliances as they navigate through significant political changes over the past five years. Voting will take place on November 20 with results announced on November 23.
