What is the Scheme About?

The government frequently launches new welfare schemes for the common people, but many citizens remain unaware of these schemes. With this in mind, the Maharashtra government introduced the 'Government at Your Doorstep' initiative. Now, citizens across Maharashtra can access government schemes directly in their own villages. Launched by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on 14th May 2023, this is an ambitious plan by the state government.

75,000 Beneficiaries in Each District

The scheme aims to provide approximately 75,000 citizens in each district with access to all available schemes under one roof. To ensure success, district administrations held a two-day workshop for government employees to plan and implement the initiative effectively. The main objective is to make government schemes easily accessible to the people. Each District Collector was allocated funds by the Chief Minister to help organise these workshops.

Coordination Unit at Chief Minister's Office

To maintain coordination among the officials involved, a unit was established in the Chief Minister's Office. This unit helps resolve issues faced by citizens. Through the 'Government at Your Doorstep' scheme, residents of Maharashtra can receive information about and benefit from a range of government schemes under one roof. Beneficiaries are provided with services from departments such as the tehsil office, panchayat committee, health, gram panchayat, agriculture, and veterinary departments.

Freedom for District Collectors

The scheme aims to benefit around 75,000 citizens per district under one roof. For the initiative's camps, district collectors were authorised to utilise funds allocated to departments including Agriculture, Rural Development, Social Justice, Tribal Development, Skill Development, and School Education. Welfare cells have been set up at state, district, and taluka levels. Approximately ₹5,457 crore worth of goods will be distributed under this scheme across the districts.

What's Available Under One Roof?

Services available include blood donation camps, health camps, employment opportunities, Aadhaar and PAN card facilities, passport services, agricultural service centre permits, PM Kisan scheme, retirement benefits, farmer-to-consumer marketplaces, marriage registration, recruitment drives, e-Shram cards, PM housing scheme, agricultural exhibitions, distribution of assistive devices for the differently-abled, bicycles for girls, Sakhi kits, MGNREGA job cards, Digital India initiatives, learner's driving licences, and farmer-to-consumer marketplaces. All these services are accessible under one roof to citizens across the districts.
