Maharashtra Assembly Polls 2024: Check Second List Of Congress' Candidates

Amid differences over seat-sharing with the alliance partners, Congress released the second list of candidates for 23 seats for the upcoming state assembly polls in Maharashtra on Saturday.

Notably, the party has given Savner ticket to Anuja Kedar, wife of MLA Sunil Kedar, who was convicted in a corruption case and disqualified from the constituency. It has fielded Girish Krushnarao Pandav from Nagpur South although Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena has been keen on fielding its candidate.

On the other hand, Hemant Ogale has been replaced Lahu Kanade in the Shrirampur constituency.

Earlier, the Congress had revealed the names of 48 candidates in its first list. Till now, the party has announced a total of 71 candidates.

The Congress is part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi comprising Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) and Sharad Pawar's NCP. Whereas the ruling Mahayuti has the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) and NCP (Ajit Pawar).

In the first list of 48 candidates, the party had announced that it is fielding its state unit chief Nana Patole from Sakoli, former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan from Karad South and Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar from Brahmapuri.

It has given tickets to former ministers Nitin Raut and Balasaheb Thorat from Nagpur North and Sangamner respectively, while fielding Jyoti Eknath Gaikwad from Dharavi, Amit Deshmukh from Latur City and Dheeraj Deshmukh from Latur Rural.

Also, Mohammad Aarif Naseem Khan has got ticket to contest from Chandivali, Aslam Sheikh from Malad West, Ranjit Kamble from Deoli and Vikas Thakre from Nagpur West. The polling for the 288 assembly polls will be held in a single phase on November 20.
