Liver from Indore saves Mumbai woman's life

A liver from Indore saved a woman suffering from liver cirrhosis.

Mumbai, Nov 17: A liver was flown in from Indore's Bombay Hospital and was transplanted into a 62-year old woman from Mumbai who was suffering from liver cirrhosis and was considered critical.

The transplant was carried out at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Meanwhile, the hospital also received two kidneys and a liver from a road accident victim. While one of the kidneys were transplanted into a 38-year old woman, the other was sent to a patient in Thane's Jupiter Hospital.

Liver

The liver, in turn, was sent to a 57-year old man from Gujarat who was in a critical condition.

Doctors in the city are overwhelmed with citizens' participation in organ donation programs. "It is saving lives", said Dr Ram Narain, Executive Director of the Jupiter Hospital.
