Fadnavis’ Infrastructure Vision For Maharashtra's Transformation A Game Changer

In an exclusive interview with OneIndia, BJP National Spokesperson and economist Sanju Verma highlighted the tremendous strides in Mumbai's infrastructure, attributing much of this progress to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. As the upcoming state assembly elections approach, Fadnavis's impactful track record in completing delayed projects like metro expansions, new airports and highway connections takes center stage, showcasing a legacy of infrastructural innovation.

Verma began by stressing Mumbai's unique position as India's financial capital, producing over 6% of the country's GDP but facing significant challenges, particularly concerning vehicle density. Mumbai, she noted, has over 4.6 million vehicles with a density of 2,300 cars per kilometer. This intense congestion outpaces other Indian cities, creating a pressing need for streamlined infrastructure. Projects such as the Navi Mumbai Airport, now in its final stages, are seen as essential for decongesting the city's transportation network and addressing its heavy traffic flow. According to Verma, "Navi Mumbai Airport and the Trans Harbour Link Project stand as game-changers in reducing congestion."

Fadnavis Infrastructure Vision For Maharashtra s Transformation A Game Changer

Another milestone project Verma praised was the Samruddhi Mahamarg or Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway. Spanning 701 kilometers across ten districts, this project promises to cut travel time from 24 hours to roughly 11-12 hours. The expressway, which is more than 80% complete, not only promotes efficient travel but also supports ecological preservation, incorporating energy-efficient measures and green corridors. Verma highlighted the dedication of the Fadnavis administration to ensure rapid yet sustainable development in such projects.

Additionally, Verma discussed the Ahmedabad-Mumbai High-Speed Rail Corridor, developed in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This project, expected to complete by 2025, reflects the Modi administration's vision for advanced, time-sensitive, and well-funded infrastructural expansions, which are essential to Mumbai's growth and economic vitality.

Verma emphasised that these projects collectively reflect the "double-engine growth" ideology driven by PM Modi and CM Eknath Shinde, with Fadnavis playing a pivotal role in their execution. She noted that these initiatives signify the BJP's commitment to long-term, effective solutions rather than short-term gains, contrasting this approach with prior administrations that struggled with cost overruns and incomplete projects.

With Fadnavis at the helm, she believes Maharashtra is on the path to becoming a model of sustainable urban development in India.
