Devendra Fadnavis Trying To Divide Marathas, Says Maratha Leader Manoj Jarange Patil

Manoj Jarange Patil, the man behind the Maratha quota agitation in Maharashtra, on Sunday, alleged that Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is plotting against the benefits that Marathas should get. Talking to the media, Manoj Jarange Patil said, if Devendra Fadnavis continues to work against Marathas, the agitators may round up Deputy CM's house, if needed.

"Fadnavis is trying to create a rift within the Maratha community. Attempts are being made to finish big communities and give more prominence to smaller communities," he alleged.

A week ago, the Maharashtra assembly led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde passed a bill unanimously to give a 10% special quota to Marathas. However, Manoj Jarange termed the bill 'cheating with Marathas' as they wanted a reservation under the OBC quota. He also announced to continue his hunger strike in demand for the reservation.

"Fadnavis has taken a decision without taking (Chief Minister Eknath) Shinde in the loop. Everything is happening in his direction, he is running the state. Does Fadnavis want me to sacrifice myself? I will march to his bungalow. Stop me if you can," said Manoj Jarange Patil.

"We need reservation which we deserve, give reservation under OBC category to those whose proof of being Kunbi has been found. For those who don't have proof, pass a law of 'Sage Soyare'," Patil added.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, this Maratha agitation, which demands a special reservation for the natives of Maharashtra in education admission and government job opportunities, may play a big role as thousands of locals are associated with and support Manoj Jarange.
