BJP Shares Second List Of Candidates For Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its second list of candidates for the Maharashtra assembly elections. This list includes 22 names, with seven being current Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). The sitting MLAs are Prakash Bharsakale from Akot, Devayani Pharande from Nashik Central, Kumar Ayalani from Ulhasnagar, Ravindra Patil from Pen, Bhimrao Tapkir from Khadakwasla, Sunil Kamble from Pune Cantonment, and Samadhan Autade from Pandharpur.

With this announcement, the BJP has now revealed candidates for a total of 121 seats. Previously, they had released a list with 99 candidates. The Mahayuti alliance, which includes BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and Ajit Pawar's NCP, is still in discussions about seat-sharing for the remaining seven to eight seats in the upcoming state assembly elections.

Maharashtra Elections: Seat-Sharing Dynamics

Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Maharashtra BJP president, mentioned that talks are ongoing among the Mahayuti partners regarding seat allocation. So far, both BJP and Ajit Pawar's NCP have released two lists each. Meanwhile, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena has issued one list. On the other hand, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has finalised its seat-sharing arrangement for 255 constituencies.

The MVA's agreement allocates 85 seats each to Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction). The remaining 23 seats will be determined based on candidate lists from each party. As election day nears on November 20th with counting on November 23rd, both alliances are working hard to finalise their strategies.

Historical Context and Current Strategies

In previous elections held in 2019, BJP secured 105 seats while Shiv Sena won 56 and Congress gained 44. Going further back to 2014 results show BJP achieving a stronger victory with 122 seats compared to Shiv Sena's 63 and Congress' 42. These historical outcomes play a crucial role in shaping current strategies for all parties involved.

Both Mahayuti and MVA alliances are intensifying meetings to resolve internal differences and finalise seat-sharing agreements ahead of the polls. While MVA focuses on overcoming internal challenges within its coalition partners; Mahayuti is concentrating on distributing its remaining seats effectively among its allies.

The political landscape in Maharashtra remains dynamic as parties continue negotiations and strategising efforts before voters head to polling stations next month. With alliances working tirelessly towards consensus-building measures amidst complex political dynamics; it remains essential for them to ensure effective collaboration between partners during this critical period leading up to election day.
