Night operations at Mangalore airport to remain shut for 6 months from Nov 1

, Oct 18: Flight operations will remain suspended at Mangalore International Airport between 11.30 pm and 7.30 am for six months starting from November 1.

The night operations will be stopped owing to works on the runway-end safety area and construction of parallel taxi way, sources at the airport told Oneindia.

"There will be no flight operations at MIA between 11.30 PM and 7.30 AM for six months from November 1. Runways and its operations will be closed till April 30 next year. Airlines have rescheduled the flights accordingly," airport director J T Radhakrishna had earlier told PTI.

He also said the Director General of Civil Aviation had approved the construction of a parallel taxiway connecting the aircraft parking area with the runway and improvements on the runway-end safety areas, Radhakrishna said.

The entire work at the airport is expected to be completed by December 2015, Radhakrishna said.
