Yogi Government Pushes Bulandshahr Link Expressway to Boost Jewar Airport and Expressway Connectivity
The Bulandshahr link expressway will connect the Ganga Expressway with the Yamuna Expressway and Noida International Airport, passing 56 villages. The project includes land acquisition, a 74.3 km corridor, and planned development zones to boost passenger and freight movement in western Uttar Pradesh.

Work starts on a new link expressway that connects the Ganga Expressway with the Yamuna Expressway and Noida International Airport, promising faster road access between Meerut, Prayagraj, Jewar, Agra and Greater Noida. The corridor will pass through 56 villages and is projected to reshape passenger and freight movement across western Uttar Pradesh.
AI-generated summary, reviewed by editors
The Uttar Pradesh government has cleared funds to move the project from planning to land purchase stage. The state has sanctioned Rs 995 crore as the first instalment for land acquisition, out of an estimated project outlay of about Rs 4000 crore, signalling priority for the corridor in the 2025-26 financial year.
Bulandshahr link expressway route and basic project data
The Bulandshahr link expressway will form a 74.3 kilometre greenfield connector between two major highways. It will start near Siyana in Bulandshahr on the Ganga Expressway at around 44.3 kilometres and terminate close to Sector-21 Film City on the Yamuna Expressway at about 24.8 kilometres, creating a continuous east-west road chain.
Project development responsibility lies with Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority. Land belonging to 56 villages will be acquired, including eight in Gautam Buddh Nagar and 48 in Bulandshahr district. Of these, 14 villages fall under Khurja tehsil, while the rest are located in Bulandshahr, Siyana and Shikarpur tehsils.
Bulandshahr link expressway length, cost and funding structure
The state has approved an overall cost estimate of Rs 1734 crore for land acquisition and construction in the initial phase, within a total project budget close to Rs 4000 crore. Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority will finance both land purchase and civil works, without shifting these costs to any other agency.
According to government directions, the Rs 995 crore released to Bulandshahr district must be used quickly for acquiring land. The amount is allocated for the 2025-26 financial year and officials have been asked to complete the land acquisition process by March 2026, so that construction work can start on schedule.

Bulandshahr link expressway design, width and service lanes
Design plans show a 130 metre wide corridor, modelled partly on the Noida–Greater Noida expressway. The central carriageway, where vehicles will move, will be 80 metres wide. On both sides, 25 metre service lanes will link adjoining sectors, improving local access without disturbing high-speed traffic.
Out of roughly 20 kilometres of the Bulandshahr link expressway passing through Yamuna City, 11 kilometres will follow this Noida–Greater Noida style layout. The remaining 9 kilometres will be elevated, similar to the Yamuna Expressway design, with underpasses near locations such as Chola to cross railway tracks and other barriers.
Bulandshahr link expressway impact on Yamuna City sectors
The corridor is planned as more than a road, with development zones on both sides. More than ten residential and industrial sectors are expected along the Bulandshahr link expressway, following the Noida–Greater Noida model for integrated urban growth with mixed housing and industry clusters.
Within Yamuna City, the link will directly connect sectors 4, 4A, 5, 5A, 10, 11, 21, 28, 33, 34 and nearby areas. Sector 5A is earmarked as a Japanese city, sector 4A for Korean investment, sector 11 for a fintech hub and sector 21 for a film city. Sector 5 is planned as a prime residential zone.
Sector 10 will host an electronics manufacturing cluster, sector 28 a semiconductor and medical devices park, while sectors 33 and 34 are reserved for general industrial activities. The link will also connect industrial sectors 28, 29 and 32, enabling trucks and cargo vehicles to reach the airport or other routes more efficiently.
Bulandshahr link expressway connectivity for Ganga Expressway and airport
Once built, the Bulandshahr link expressway will give Meerut residents a shorter trip to Noida International Airport through the Ganga Expressway. The corridor also supports direct movement from Meerut to Prayagraj and further regions, since the Ganga Expressway itself runs from Meerut towards Prayagraj.
Connecting the Ganga Expressway with the Yamuna Expressway will make routes to Noida International Airport, the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway between Agra and Greater Noida more direct. Passengers from within India and overseas will gain a continuous expressway link from the airport to cities between Meerut and Prayagraj.
Officials expect that once Noida International Airport is linked, usage of the Ganga Expressway will rise sharply. Better road access may also increase industrial land demand along the Bulandshahr link expressway and nearby sectors, as businesses weigh travel time, logistics cost and airport connectivity before planning new projects.
