Vicky Tyagi murder case: another arrest; judge gets security

Muzaffarnagar, Feb 18: Another accused has been arrested in the gangster Vicky Tyagi murder case while security has been provided to the judge of the local court, where he was shot dead by a juvenile two days ago, police said today.

A police security guard has been provided to the Additional District and Sessions Judge, in whose courtroom, Tyagi was gunned down by an absconding juvenile shooter, while a trial in 2011 Barkali murder case was going on.

The deceased, who was an alleged gangster, was one of the accused in the Barkali case, in which 8 people of a family were killed.

A group of five policemen have also been posted in judicial officer colony after the incident.

Meanwhile, accused Brijbir Singh, who was yesterday arrested in connection with Tyagi's murder case was today produced in the court.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Narender Kumar remanded him to judicial custody till March 2. District authorities too have decided to increase the security of the court compound in the wake of the incident. They have decided to increase security in the court compound, SSP K B Singh said today.

Surprise checking would be conducted and people would not be allowed on the premises without any work to check the entry of men bearing arms, he said.

Bar Association is also considering a proposal to issue identity cards to its lawyers, he added. On February 16, the armed juvenile, who had entered the courtroom masquerading as a lawyer, mortally shot Tyagi multiple times, and was arrested from the spot that day.
