Uttar Pradesh: Bride walks out after groom fails to answer 15+6=?
Lucknow, March 14: A simple Maths addition cost a man his wedding in Uttar Pradesh. A bride in UP walked out of her marriage after after her groom-to-be failed to solve a very simple math problem, police said Friday.
Upon learning on the day of her wedding that her would-be-husband was illiterate, the bride asked him a simple math problem- how much is 15+6? His answer was 15+6=17.
When the groom got the sum wrong, the bride walked out of her wedding. The incident took place late on Wednesday in Rasoolabad village near the industrial town of Kanpur
The girl's family tried to persuade her from not walking away but she refused and said that the groom had mislead them about his education.
"The groom's family kept us in the dark about his poor education," said Mohar Singh, the bride's father. "Even a first standard student can answer this."
When police intervention also did not help, both the families returned back all the gifts and jewellery that were exchanged initially between the two families.
