Lucknow, Sept 11: Uttar Pradesh BJP legislator Som Sangeet was booked on Tuesday for allegedly uploading a fake video on social networking site Facebook that fuelled communal tension in Muzaffarnagar district in the state over the last few weeks. Som is currently on the run, police said.

FIRs have also been lodged against BJP legislative party leader Hukum Singh and party MLAs Suresh Rana and Kunwar Bhartendu and former Congress MP Hardik Malik for not abiding by law.

Mulayam Singh said there was no lapse on behalf of the state government

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who has been facing flak over the clashes that have claimed 38 lives so far, including those of two journalists, said the administration was committed to prevent any more violence and promised stern action against those who are responsible for the riots.

The Congress, meanwhile, alleged that the riots were the result of the conspiracy by the BJP and Samajwadi Party, the ruling party in the state. SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, who had earlier had expressed his dissatisfaction with the way his son's government handled the issue, said on Tuesday that there was no lapse on behalf of the state government and the riots were a part of a bigger ploy to tarnish the state government's image.
