UP CM turns down honorary doctorate degree from UPTU

Lucknow, Jan 6: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has declined to accept an honorary doctorate degree, which Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) had planned to confer on him on its convocation on January 12.

"The CM has taken cognisance of media reports about UPTU plans to confer him honorary doctorate degree. He has expressed the gratitude for the gesture but as he had been given similar degree in the past, he thinks it would be unfair to take another degree", a statement from Chief Minister's office said.

UPTU academic council on January 3 had decided to confer on the CM an honorary doctorate degree.
