Sub-inspector shot dead in UP

Badaun, Jun 23: A police sub-inspector was killed and his colleague injured after three unidentified gunmen fired upon them in Binawar area, police said today.

SI Sarvesh Yadav and personnel Pramod Kumar were shot at by the criminals in Ghatbeti village when they were on routine patrol duty late last night, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ashutosh Kumar said. They were referred to Bareilly, where Yadav died during treatment.

The condition of Kumar was stated to be serious, the DIG said. Police teams led by the DIG and SSP are combing the area to trace the gunmen.
