Narendra Modi to contest from Uttar Pradesh in 2014 LS polls: Report
According to India Today report, the BJP and the RSS have come to a conclusion that Modi should fight from the UP in general elections.
However, the final decision that 'from which seat Modi will contest' will be announced in January.
Modi will hold a 'rath yatra' and helicopter sorties to reach out to UP voters.
Report also said that the BJP president Rajnath Singh will allocate seats for the elections after January 15, as it is considered to be an auspicious period according to the Hindu calendar.
Earlier, the BJP was of the view that Modi should contest from his home state Gujarat as he has been representing it from last 15 years. But on the contrary, the RSS was of the view point that in an order to strengthen its tally in the 2014 elections, Modi must contest from north India.
As of now, Modi and the RSS has left it to the BJP's top brass to decide from which seat Modi should fight the elections.
It has also emerged that Modi may fight from Lucknow (Atal Bihari Vajpayee's home turf) or Varanasi (Murli Manohar Joshi's home turf).
In the coming days, Modi is likely to launch a 'rath yatra' and helicopter sorties to reach out to the UP voters.
