Muzaffarnagar riots: Case filed against 11 RLD, BKU leaders

Additional District Magistrate Indermani Tripathi had yesterday filed the case against the leaders including BKU national spokesman Rakesh Tikait under IPC section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).
According to Tripathi, the accused staged a protest in September last year outside the district jail here against the arrest of RLD district president Ajit Rathi and other party activists in connection with the riots.
The police had registered an FIR a day after the incident. And after investigation by a Special Investigation Team, the ADM filed the case in court yesterday. The case has been registered against Tikait, BKU women leader Omviri Devi, RLD district media in-charge Sudhir Bharti, former RLD district president Randhawa Malik and seven others, Tripathi said.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Manoj Kumar Siddu fixed July 21 as the date of next hearing in the case.
