Mulayam Singh Yadav forgets Nirbhaya, says 4 men can't rape a woman

Lucknow, Aug 19: Known for making controversial statements about rape in the past, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday, Aug 19 raised many eyebrows when he said that 'it was not possible for four men to rape a woman.'

Stating that the law and order situation in UP was better than many states, Yadav said that many rape reports that are filed are not true. "One person commits the crime and four are named in the complaint," he said.

To support his claims he said: "Is it even possible that four men can rape a woman? It's not even practical. If there are four brothers, all get arrested." Yadav stated that he knew of many such cases, where one commits the crime and four brothers of the same family are arrested for the same offence.

However, this is not the first time that Yadav has made such comments. Last year, Yadav had sparked a huge controversy when he said 'boys will be boys, they commit mistakes' while speaking on death penalty handed over to three rape convicts.

Yadav even opposed death penalty handed over to rape convicts.
