UP: Man murders wife for not giving birth to son

Sambhal, Jul 29: A 35-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband who was upset that she had not given birth to a son in Waripur Bhamraura village here, police said today.

"Mushrat Begum, a mother of three daughters, was allegedly hanged by her husband Mushabbar in their house. She was rushed to a hospital by the neighbours but she died late in the evening," ASP, Kamlesh Dixit said.

The couple used to have frequent arguments over not having a son and they quarreled over the issue yesterday, he said.

"The accused had recently married another woman and an FIR has been filed against three persons including his second wife," the ASP added.

The body has been sent for postmortem.
