A tragic hit-and-run incident in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow has triggered public outrage after a speeding car driven by a minor ploughed into pedestrians near a roadside food stall, killing a six-year-old child and leaving several others injured.

The accident, which occurred on Thursday evening on Kanpur Road, has once again raised concerns over reckless driving and underage motorists on city roads.

Speeding car crashes into chaat stall crowd

According to police, the incident took place around 6 pm near the Hanuman Temple on Kanpur Road. A Swift Dzire car travelling from Lucknow towards Kanpur reportedly went out of control and rammed into people standing at a chaat stall eating snacks.

The impact of the crash was severe, with the vehicle hitting multiple pedestrians and then colliding with a parked motorcycle and nearby vehicles.

Police have taken the girl into custody for questioning.
