Gulabi Gang sacks founding commander Sampat Pal

, Mar 4: After inspiring women across the country and abroad, Gulabi Gang chief Sampat Pal has been ousted by her own group. Reports suggest that cracks had developed within the group after some members alleged ill-treatment from Pal.

Pal was dethroned from her post after a meeting in Banda on Sunday. Pal's successor will be officially elected on Mar 23.

Reports suggest that Pal was misusing the gang's reputation for personal interests. There was huge resentment in the gang against Pal and hence the decision was taken to sack her.

Pal was seen in the famous reality show 'Big Boss.' Her life is being made into a Hindi film starring Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla.

Members alleged that Pal used to take decisions without consulting the members and even made money at the cost of the organisation.

Pal had formed the Gulabi Gang in 2006 to fight against the injustice and atrocities committed against the women in Uttar Praedsh. The women of the group don pink coloured sarees and carry lathis with them.
