The body was found hanging from a tree yesterday near Kherashwar temple in the Lodha area here. Police said that the deceased has been identified as Madhu (20), a resident of Hardaspur village.

The girl, who was to be married shortly, had a tiff with her mother yesterday over some minor issue following which she took the extreme step, police added.

The body was identified after the victim's father, Singhveer Singh, a labourer, approached police and told them that the girl was none other than his eldest daughter, said local police spokesman Udai Veer Malik.

The deceased was the eldest of seven children and had passed her Class XII exams this year.
