Complete All 2025–26 Projects on Schedule, CM Yogi Adityanath Directs Finance Officials

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to speed up budget expenditure to ensure that all schemes for the 2025-26 financial year are completed on time.

During a review meeting of the finance department, the Chief Minister made it clear that delays in spending allocated funds will invite strict accountability.

He cautioned officers and departments against complacency, stating that any slackness in implementing approved projects would be closely monitored and responsibility would be fixed where required.

Slow Budget Utilisation Draws Chief Minister's Concern

Officials informed the Chief Minister that the state government has made higher budgetary provisions for 20 major departments in the current financial year. A detailed presentation was given on approvals issued so far, the allocation process followed by department heads, and actual expenditure levels.

Yogi Adityanath reviewed each department's progress separately and expressed serious concern over those showing slow spending patterns. He stressed that timely utilisation of funds is essential for effective governance and project completion.

Monthly Reviews Ordered for Departments Lagging Behind

The Chief Minister instructed that an immediate list be prepared of departments where budget expenditure is progressing slowly. He directed that the Chief Minister's Office should send formal letters to the ministers concerned, asking for corrective action.

He said departmental ministers and senior officials must hold monthly review meetings, clearly define expenditure targets, and track progress regularly. Emphasising individual responsibility, Yogi Adityanath stated that "any kind of negligence will not be tolerated."

Delays in Decisions Hurt Projects and Payments

Highlighting administrative bottlenecks, the Chief Minister pointed out that delays in decision-making often lead to stalled payments and unfinished projects, especially towards the end of the financial year.

He instructed the finance department to immediately issue orders in cases where parts of the sanctioned budget have not yet been released. He also warned against unnecessary file delays and pending notings, saying that every proposal must be cleared within a fixed time frame.

Active Follow-Up with Centre for Sponsored Schemes

On centrally sponsored schemes, Yogi Adityanath asked senior officials from the 20 key departments to take proactive steps wherever central funds are pending. He directed ministers, additional chief secretaries and principal secretaries to personally visit Delhi, write formal letters, and maintain continuous follow-up through phone calls to secure timely fund releases.

The Chief Minister also asked the Chief Secretary to take innovative steps to strengthen coordination with the Centre and to regularly monitor pending proposals. He said state schemes can run on schedule only if central funds are released on time, and issues such as technical objections or document gaps should be resolved at the initial stage itself.

Preparations Begin for 2026-27 Budget Planning

Looking ahead to the 2026-27 financial year, Yogi Adityanath instructed the finance department to begin reviewing budget demands with all departments from now itself. He said that while framing the new budget allocation policy, expenditure data from the past five years should be analysed carefully.

Departments with low fund utilisation will be required to submit written explanations. The Chief Minister also asked the finance department to quickly begin work on a new action plan and improve coordination with the Centre for next year's budget allocations.

By stressing timely fund release, clear accountability and faster decision-making, Yogi Adityanath underlined that the state government considers time-bound execution of projects and schemes as a key administrative priority.
