Lucknow, July 28: Women workers, supporters and leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are staging a sit-in and demonstrate in Lucknow on Thursday, July 28, against the alleged objectionable comments made by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leaders against the wife and daughter of former BJP leader Dayashankar Singh.
Thousands of women workers marched through the city streets today against the comments of BSP leaders.
The demonstration is joined by all women BJP MPs from the state, legislators, municipal corporation chairpersons and public representatives.
BJP General Secretary Anupama Jaiswal informed media that the programme was scheduled soon after a bitter altercation broke out between the BSP and the BJP in which leaders and workers of the former had dragged the family members of Singh into the political slugfest.
"We are demanding the immediate dismissal of BSP leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui from the post of the Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh legislative council and his arrest along with other BSP leaders," Jaiswal told reporters.
