104 prisoners in UP jail pass 10th, 12th board exams

The prisoners in Uttar Pradesh jails have done exceedingly well in the Class 10 and Class 12 exams as 104 jailmates have cleared the exams.

The pass percentage of the prisoners in the Class 10 exams stands at 95.16 per cent while 69.23 per cent of them cleared the Class 12 examinations, according to a report in Hindustan Times.

Compared to 2022 results, the pass percentage in the high school exam has increased by 2.93 per cent, but a 1.6 per cent dip in the intermediate exam, the report added. The prisoners from 25 jails including two central jails of Varanasi and Bareilly took the exams.

79 inmates from the different jails had registered for the Class 10 exams and 90 people had registered for the Class 12 exams.

Interestingly, the pass percentage of prisoners from 16 jails is 100 per cent while inmates from nine jails registered cent per cent.

The pass percentage of prisoners in UP Class 10 and Class 12 in 2022 were 92.23 per cent and 70.83 per cent, respectively.

The results of the UP board exams were announced on Tuesday. Out of 28,63,621 candidates who appeared in the high school exam, 25,70,987 students have passed and the pass percentage is 89.78 per cent.

Whereas 25,71,002 candidates appeared for the intermediate examination and 19,41,717 candidates or 75.52 per cent passed.

Also, girls have outperformed boys in both exams conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council this year.

While the pass percentage of girls in the high school examination is 93.34 per cent, it is 86.64 per cent for the boys. Similarly, in the intermediate examination, the pass percentage of boys is 69.34 per cent, while it is 83 per cent for girls.

Priyanshi Soni (98.33 per cent) of Sitapur and Shubh Chhapra (97.80 per cent) of Mahoba are declared toppers in High School and Intermediate examinations, respectively.
