1 killed as light to moderate rain lash UP

Lucknow, Aug 2: A 45-year-old man was killed in Ballia district today after being struck by lightning as light to moderate rain or thunder showers lashed a few places in Uttar Pradesh in the past 24 hours.

Baleshwar died after being hit by lightning in Haldi area, police said. Agra received 7 cm of rainfall, Varanasi, Rajghat 6 cm each, Fatehpur, Muzaffarnagar 4 cm each, Mathura and Gaighat 3 cm each, acording to the Met department.

Rain or thunder shower was likely to occur at isolated places tomorrow, it said. Rain or thunder shower was very likely at few places over eastern UP on August 4 and at many places on August 5.

The Met department warned that heavy rainfall was very likely at isolated places over western UP tomorrow.
