Trinamool candidate calls opponent's wife 'romantic'

, called the wife of his opponent Santosh Rana a "romantic" woman, a report published in

said. This happened after the filmstar visited Rana's house to attend an invitation for high tea and Bharati Rana, Santosh's wife, gifted him a rose. The Ranas were overwhelmed by Dev's gesture and stardom and even said that Dev is not like his party, which has no principle.

The incident in a politically polarised West Bengal has caught enerybody by surprise. Politics in the state nowadays means confrontation between the Trinamool Congress and the opponents and such a goodwill gesture between the candidates of two contesting parties is a fresh break for the local people. Even the local political leaders and MLAs have admitted that latest episode is a new change although the Left has ruled out that the stardom factor will certainly work in favour of the ruling party.

The CPI candidate's family said Dev is different from Trinamool, his party.

Dev stirred a controversy recently when he said in an interview that the intense media focus on his candidature was making him feel like being raped [Read here]. Dev will take on CPI's Santosh Rana and Congress's Manas Bhuiyan from Ghatal constituency on May 12.
