Kolkata, Dec 12: On Thursday, the CBI sent a stern message to Madan Mitra, saying "You have rested enough now come to our office for interrogation". Madan Mitra, the transport minister of West Bengal, is one of the biggest catches for the CBI probing the Saradha scam. [CBI arrests Madan Mitra]

Shielding the accused, directing omission of names and putting a spoke in the investigations by the Serious Frauds Investigation Office are the allegations listed against him for which the CBI has evidence. [Saradha: Did Madan Mitra tell Sudipta Sen to omit names?]

Madan Mitra had played hard to get when he was summoned by the CBI twice.‎ First he admitted himself to hospital and then told them he needed rest once he was discharged.

Madan Mitra was not truthful even once, says CBI

CBI sources say that he was not one bit truthful during the questioning today. He was dodging various questions although he repeatedly claimed that he knew nothing about the scam. He even said that he had no interaction with Sudipta Sen and unaware of his dealings.

The CBI countered him with proof of his involvement with the Saradha boss. It was also asked whether he as an MP helped Sen acquire acres of land at Bishnopur. Further he also asked whether he had directed Sen to name just Kunal Ghosh and omit the rest of the accused. Sen had written a letter to the CBI detailing the scam allegedly at the behest of Rajat Majumdar. However, the CBI found that even Mitra too had played a role here and directed that names be omitted.
