Mamata's minister Madan Mitra is really sick, claims govt hospital of his choice

Kolkata, Nov 22: West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra quickly shifted his base from a private hospital to a government one here on Thursday for unknown reasons. [Madan Mitra checks into SSKM Hospital from luxurious private hospital ahead of CBI questioning]

It was suspected in various quarters that Mitra, who was summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection to Saradha chit fund scam, changed the hospital so that he could influence the authorities better in the government hospital where he has a bigger clout.

According to an ABP Ananda report, an eight-member medical board was formed for the minister on the same day he shifted his base and he underwent a number of tests on Friday. Physicians of the board claimed that Mitra is suffering from a number of ailments, including breathing disorder and panic.

The minister though was not available for comment.

Meanwhile, the CBI has started probing whether Mitra had connection to any other embezzlement case besides Saradha. The CBI is investigating allegations of misappropriation of funds against six other firms besides Saradha and Mitra was reportedly seen sharing stage with officials of one of them.

The Trinamool Congress, however, defended Mitra saying even if its leaders were present at such functions, they have no connection with those organisations.
