Ban On Firecrackers

The decision to impose the ban stems from fears that the use of firecrackers could lead to confusion among security forces and the general public, resulting in disruptions to peace and security during the VIP visit. With the safety and well-being of residents and properties in mind, the District Magistrate has deemed it necessary to take proactive measures to prevent any potential breach of peace and order.

Effective immediately, the sale, purchase, and use of firecrackers within District Jammu are strictly prohibited until 5 pm on February 20, 2024. Violations of this order will be met with punitive action under section 188 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973.

Given the urgency of the situation, the prohibition order is being issued unilaterally and is addressed to the public at large. Furthermore, it will be disseminated widely through various channels, including the District Website, leading newspapers, and notice boards across the district, ensuring that residents are duly informed of the restrictions in place.

By implementing this measure, the District Magistrate aims to safeguard public safety and prevent any potential disruptions during the forthcoming VIP visit to District Jammu. The order, effective immediately, reflects the commitment of local authorities to maintain law and order in the region.
