Sexual Assault: 'Godman' Asaram Bapu in trouble, bail plea rejected

Jodhpur, Sept 4: In a major setback for

, a court in Jodhpur, Rajasthan on Wednesday, Sept 4 rejected his bail plea in connection with a sexual assault case. Hence, the self-styled godman would remain to be in Jodhpur Central Jail where he has currently been lodged since Monday.

Prosecutors in court argued that Asaram could tamper the evidence and influence the case if he gets bail. Earlier the court had reserved its order till the evening.

Asaram's bail plea rejected

As of now it appears that Asaram is likely to spend more sleepless nights in the jail. Asaram's lawyer KK Menon however made a startling statement outside the court demanding that a DNA test be conducted on the girl, to confirm whether she is a minor or not.

It was earlier reported that the Jodhpur police may slap Asaram with the stringent laws under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act. The lawyers told the court that if Asaram is given bail, he may try to tamper the evidence and influence the case.
