Why Nancy Pelosi’s applause for Donald Trump at State of Union address is going viral
Washington, Feb 7: The United States' political leadership had a moment of reconciliation after a prolonged fight between President Donald Trump and the Congress over funding of the former's wall project that resulted in the longest partial government shutdown in the country's history recently.

On Tuesday, February 5, Trump delivered the second State of the Union address of his term, where he called for unity punctuated with a stress to construct the wall along the Mexico border to prevent illegal immigrants from sneaking into the country. However, amid all the talks, some gestures were not missed.
As the maverick president spoke for over an hour during which he touched various issues, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat who rose to the position for the second time after her party gained control of the House of Representatives last November, came up with a unique gesture.
As Trump said in his speech: "We must reject the politics of revenge, resistance and retribution, and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise and the common good," Vice President Mike Pence and all the legislators stood up to applaud him.
Pelosi also joined but with a gesture of applause that seemed sarcastic to many. Soon, it started ruling the social media with lots of memes pouring in.
Also on the occasion, Joshua Trump, the 11-year-old boy who is allegedly bullied for his infamous surname and invited to the speech by the president, fell asleep as Trump spoke and that incident too attracted a lot of traction on social media.
US will never be socialist, says Trump with his red tie 'leaning left'
Even the fact that Trump's red tie was leaning left did not evade people's eyes even though the former said during his speech that the US will never be a socialist country.
Here are some reactions the Twitterati came up with over Pelosi's clap, Joshua's falling asleep and Trump's 'left-leaning' tie:
