Vladimir Putin Sends Condolence Message To PM Modi, President After Deadly Uttar Pradesh Storms

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed deep condolences to India following the devastating cyclone and severe storms that caused widespread destruction across Uttar Pradesh and claimed more than 100 lives.

Putin sent a message to Droupadi Murmu and Narendra Modi as the state continued to deal with the aftermath of one of the deadliest weather disasters witnessed in recent months.

The Russian President expressed sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and the large-scale destruction caused by the storm. In his message, Putin said, "Please accept my deepest condolences over the heavy loss of life and large-scale destruction caused by the cyclone in Uttar Pradesh."

The message came as rescue and relief operations continued across several affected districts of Uttar Pradesh, where heavy rain, powerful winds and lightning strikes created chaos and destruction. According to official reports, at least 104 people have died in storm-related incidents across the state.

The sudden weather change brought violent dust storms and strong winds that uprooted trees, snapped electric poles and damaged houses in many areas. Several roads were blocked after trees collapsed onto vehicles and highways, while wall collapses, shed accidents and lightning strikes caused additional casualties in multiple districts.

Among the worst-hit regions were Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Mirzapur and Fatehpur, where dozens of deaths were reported. Videos from several districts showing the intensity of the storm also went viral on social media.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had earlier expressed grief over the tragedy and directed officials to ensure that financial assistance reaches the families of the victims within 24 hours. The state government also instructed district administrations to remain alert and provide regular updates regarding storm-related damage.
