At campuses ranging from New York to Dallas and Washington, DC, demands are being made by demonstrators for schools to sever financial ties with Israel and grant amnesty to students for rule-breaking, among other goals, as reported by Bloomberg. Politicians, faculty, and billionaire donors are offering both support and criticism.

With commencement quickly approaching, administrators are feeling the pressure. Strategies have varied from heavy-handed to hands-off, as reported by Hindustan Times citing the report.

According to Bloomberg, here is a look at the latest developments at several institutions across the country:

Fordham University: On Wednesday morning, the Lincoln Center campus was infiltrated by dozens of protesters who set up tents. After repeated warnings, 15 people were arrested for trespassing by the NYPD, and the encampment was cleared out.

California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt: About 35 people, including students and professors, were arrested by police for taking over two buildings. The campus will remain closed through at least the end of the semester, and a "modified" graduation ceremony will be held at an off-campus location.

University of California at Los Angeles: Classes were suspended on Wednesday due to early morning unrest at a pro-Palestinian encampment, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. A group of counter-demonstrators attempted to tear down barricades surrounding the protest area, and later, pro-Palestinian protesters used pepper spray on these demonstrators.

City College of New York: The college is transitioning to remote learning following the arrival of New York police late Tuesday night, who cleared an encampment and arrested over 160 individuals.

Columbia University: Police officers entered the campus on Tuesday, dispersing an escalating protest and arresting more than 100 demonstrators, some of whom had barricaded themselves in a building. President Minouche Shafik requested a police presence on campus through at least May 17, two days after graduation.

Tufts University: President Sunil Kumar was scheduled to meet with protesters on Wednesday after the school issued a "no trespass order" to students at an encampment, as reported by the Tufts Daily newspaper.

Yale University: On Tuesday morning, officers from Yale and New Haven evacuated the pro-Palestine protest site at Campus Cross, according to the Yale Daily News. The encampment was cleared without arrests, although protesters vowed to return.

Brown University: Protesters agreed to dismantle their encampment at the Ivy League school after reaching a deal that permits them to present their divestment proposal to the university's governing body. The administration agreed that protesting students will not face suspension or expulsion.

Princeton University: Thirteen people were arrested on Monday after hundreds of students took over a university building and erected barricades. Protesters surrounded the bus carrying the arrested students until they were released.

George Washington University: Lawmakers, including House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, visited the campus site one week into the demonstrations, pledging congressional support to restore "law and order."

University of Texas - Dallas: More than a dozen protesters were arrested on Wednesday afternoon after law enforcement disbanded an encampment that pro-Palestinian students had set up in the early morning hours, with hundreds of people gathered, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Harvard University: Administrators have refrained from clearing out an encampment on Harvard Yard, opting instead to threaten sanctions and restrict access, as per the Harvard Crimson. Final exams initially scheduled for Harvard Hall are being relocated outside Harvard Yard.
