An Instagram video by Indian travel vlogger Anant, showing a budget hotel room in China costing just ₹1,100 per night, has drawn widespread attention, with many viewers surprised by the range of facilities offered at that price in Chengdu, a major Chinese city that Anant compares in scale to Ahmedabad.

In the clip, Instagram user Anant, who posts as @onroadindian, guides viewers through what is described as a "loft room" located near Chengdu’s city centre. Anant explains that the stay costs ₹1,100 per day and appears to target budget travellers who still want access to several modern amenities inside a compact space.

Introducing the space in Hindi, Anant tells viewers, "Come, let me show you how China is living. What all can China give you for just ₹1,100? Take a close look." The video then moves through the main floor and upper level, giving a detailed look at the layout and fittings of the room.

The vlogger points out a washing machine, refrigerator, induction stove, kettle and towels fitted into the small area, along with a separate bathroom. The room includes a sofa seating corner and a large television, while stairs lead to a duplex-style sleeping zone on the upper level, which features a bed and chandelier above the lower space.

Calling the projector one of the standout features, Anant says, "Put up the projector screen here, connect your device, and watch whatever you want." Posting the reel, Anant writes, "This is what you get in ₹1100 in China. Despite inflation and expensive accommodation, still, the tourism industry is relatively cheaper in China. And this is not a small city. This is a very big city named Chengdu. And it is near the city centre."

Viewers quickly compare conditions in China with hotel stays across India, sharing their own experiences. One Instagram user comments, "Bro, Chengdu might be smaller compared to China's biggest cities like Beijing and Shanghai — kind of like how Ahmedabad is compared to Mumbai or Bangalore — but honestly, if you compare Chengdu to almost any Indian city, even Mumbai or Bangalore, it's way better."
