Did Railway Loco Pilot Stop Train To Buy Samosas In MP? Watch Viral Video

A video showing the loco pilot of the Indore-Mhow DEMU train stopping reportedly to buy samosas from a shop beside the tracks has surfaced online.

As the clip garnered criticism, the Railways has ordered a probe over the incident, according to news agency PTI.

Responding to the incident, Railway Public Relations Officer, Western Railway zone, Mukesh Kumar told the news agency, "We also came to know about this through social media. Since it is on social media, we cannot confirm its authenticity. However, as it appears to be a video from our division, we have forwarded it to the senior officials for investigation. They will verify which video it is, who the driver is, and which train it is...At this point, I also cannot confirm why the train had stopped."

It the viral video the loco pilot is seen buying samosas and heading towards the train.

The officer stated that he is not aware of the exact location or whether it had stopped because of a signal or for some other reason. He added, "Therefore, I have referred the matter to the concerned department for investigation, because the officers and employees of the concerned department know the locations, the routes, the train involved, the driver, and all those details...Dismissal from service is a very major punishment. It is not a matter of removing someone from service. However, if any fault is found, some form of punishment will be given."

Taking a potshot at the viral video, one user wrote, "Indian Railways is testing out the bullet train, but the pilots are still running on Samosa power. True dedication to the cravings!"

The second user commented, "And we dream to compete with China 🤣"

Urging Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to sack the pilot, the third netizen said, "This fellow must be dismissed from the service @AshwiniVaishnaw."

However, another user had a different view towards the incident. The user commented, "That's not a DEMU train, that's a freight train. Get yourself sorted out,
@PTI_News My guess is that the LP saw a red signal and was stopping anyways, but then decided to stop by for some food. Nevertheless, an investigation is necessary if he violated procedure by stepping out of his cab."
