US Presidential Election 2024: Polls Tight As Trump, Harris Hit Swing States
On the eve of the polling day, US Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump rallied their supporters in crucial swing states. Harris, 60, is the Democratic presidential candidate, while Trump, 78, represents the Republican side. Both candidates are focusing on Pennsylvania and Michigan, pivotal states for the 2024 presidential elections.
Trump held four rallies on Monday, with two in Pennsylvania. He began his day with a campaign event in North Carolina and planned to conclude in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This location was significant as it hosted his last public event during the 2016 presidential elections. Meanwhile, Harris dedicated her entire day to Pennsylvania, conducting five rallies. Her final rally was scheduled for 11 pm in Philadelphia.

Key Swing States and Electoral Votes
Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Georgia are also critical battleground states. To win the 2024 presidential elections, a candidate needs to secure 270 electoral college votes. A recent ABC News/Ipsos poll indicated Harris leading nationally but Trump ahead in some swing states. In Pennsylvania, both candidates were neck and neck.
Both campaigns expressed confidence about their electoral prospects on November 5. Trump addressed his supporters in North Carolina, saying, "They have an expression, I hate the expression actually, but it’s ours to lose. Does that make sense to you? It’s ours to lose. If we get everybody out and vote, there’s not a thing they can do."
Campaign Messages and Voter Mobilisation
Harris conveyed a message of unity in Allentown, Pennsylvania: "I will be president of all Americans." She emphasised the momentum of her campaign and called for a new generation of leadership in America. "Make no mistake, we will win," she assured her supporters.
Both candidates urged their supporters to vote. Harris stated during a call with Black women: "We will get this done, we will win, and it will be because we know what’s at stake, we love our country, and we know how to fight for all that is good and important for the future."
The Trump Campaign expressed optimism about Election Day outcomes. They stated that Trump "is going into Election Day stronger than he has in any previous election." They believe that if patriots turn out as expected on Election Day, Trump will be sworn in as President in January.
The campaigns' efforts reflect their determination to secure victory in these decisive states. As polling day approaches, both sides are focused on mobilising voters to ensure success at the ballot box.
