Images shared by Donald Trump on social media reveal a copy of the Declaration of Independence now hangs in the Oval Office. The Republican president's official account on X displayed two photos on Monday, showing the framed document near the Resolute desk. In one picture, Trump is seen moving dark blue curtains to view the document.

The origin and installation date of this copy remain unclear. "The National Archives delivered the Declaration of Independence to the White House at the President's request. It is displayed in the Oval Office where it will be carefully protected and preserved," stated press secretary Karoline Leavitt. The original document, which is very faded, is housed in the Archives building.

The version hanging in the White House appears clear and legible, as seen in the images posted. However, both the White House and National Archives have not clarified which version of the document is currently displayed there. Trump's post simply stated: "The Declaration of Independence in the Oval Office."

Additional Additions to the Office

This historical document is part of several new additions Trump has made to the Oval Office decor. According to The Wall Street Journal, he has also included a painting of Andrew Jackson, a portrait of George Washington above the fireplace, and a bust of Winston Churchill. Additionally, a button for ordering a Diet Coke adds a personal touch.
