The private airfield at Stansted Airport in the UK became the focus of a climate activist action, reportedly targeted at the recent landing of US singer Taylor Swift's jet, as reported by India Today, citing AFP.

According to The Telegraph, two women affiliated with the 'Just Stop Oil' group were subsequently arrested by authorities after they had used fire extinguishers filled with orange paint to spray two randomly selected private jets.

The activists' initial intent was to locate Taylor Swift's jet, which they were unable to find.

A video shared on X by the group depicted one of the activists cutting through a fenced perimeter to gain entry onto the airfield premises. Taking to the social media platform, Just Stop Oil wrote, "JUST STOP OIL PAINT PRIVATE JETS HOURS AFTER TAYLOR SWIFT'S LANDS. Jennifer and Cole cut the fence into the private airfield at Stansted where @taylorswift13's jet is parked, demanding an emergency treaty to end fossil fuels by 2030."

Just Stop Oil utilized its social media platform to convey a message regarding the environmental impact of private jet travel, emphasizing that such flights can generate up to 40 times more carbon emissions than commercial flights. There has been no response from Taylor Swift.

Furthermore, the group has articulated a demand for the British government to enact legal commitments aimed at phasing out fossil fuel usage by the year 2030, as reported by India Today. This protest incident took place shortly after other members of the climate activist group had engaged in a similar action, where they spray-painted Stonehenge, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site located in southwest England.

The timing of this protest is noteworthy as Taylor Swift is scheduled to perform at Wembley Stadium over the weekend. This development occurs amid ongoing criticism directed at the American singer regarding her frequent use of private jets.

In 2022, Swift was identified in a report as being among the celebrities responsible for some of the highest private jet CO2 emissions, with her flights generating a total of 8,293.54 tonnes of emissions from 170 flights, significantly exceeding the average emissions produced by an individual in that year.
