Slovenia Establishes Temporary Migrant Facilities at Croatia Border Amid Influx
In response to a surge in migrant arrivals, Slovenia is setting up temporary facilities at the border with Croatia. The facilities include a fence, accommodation containers, tents, and sanitary facilities. The government aims to address the influx of migrants from the Middle East, Asia, and Africa seeking passage to Western Europe.
In response to a surge in migrant arrivals, Slovenia has announced plans to establish temporary facilities for handling migrants at the border with Croatia. The government's decision comes amid concerns about the increasing number of migrants crossing the border from Croatia, which joined the European Union's Schengen area last year.

Temporary Facilities to Be Set Up
The temporary facilities will be set up at the former border crossing in Obrezje and will include a fence, two accommodation containers, tents, and sanitary facilities. The government has stated that the facilities are necessary due to the limited capacity of local police stations to handle the influx of migrants.
Cooperation with Italy and Croatia
Slovenia, Italy, and Croatia have agreed to collaborate in curbing migration through their respective countries. This cooperation aims to address the challenges posed by the increased movement of migrants from the Middle East, Asia, and Africa seeking to reach Western Europe.
Temporary Arrangement
The government has emphasized that the temporary facilities will operate for a maximum of three years. This timeframe is intended to provide a temporary solution while addressing the long-term challenges associated with migration.
Balkan Land Route
Migrants typically enter Slovenia from Croatia after traversing the Balkan land route, which originates in Turkey and passes through Greece or Bulgaria before continuing to North Macedonia, Serbia, and Bosnia.
