Six people died after two helicopters collided over Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning. The aircraft then crashed in the city’s west zone, firefighters said. American singer and comedian Oliver Tree was listed with aviation officials as a passenger. Argentine YouTuber Gaspar Prim Díaz, known as "Gaspi," was also reported aboard.

Rio's Military Fire Department said one helicopter fell into a car dealership parking area. Several electric vehicles parked at the site caught fire after the crash. Fire crews later brought the flames under control. Officials said the reason for the midair collision remained under investigation.

On Saturday, the singer posted an Instagram video showing himself playing football in a Brazilian neighbourhood.

Argentine streaming outlet Blender reported that Gaspar Prim Díaz was on one of the helicopters. Díaz, widely known online as "Gaspi," was 23 years old. The YouTube creator had more than 2.8 million subscribers. Blender later shared a tribute through its X account.

"Thanks for your art, your magic and your sensibility, every one of us will miss you," Blender said on its X account. The outlet’s message followed reports naming Díaz among those involved. Authorities, however, continued the formal identification process after the crash.

Tire repair worker Fernandes de Freitas told reporters that one helicopter was burning after impact. De Freitas said a passenger jumped from the other helicopter before it crashed. The account added to early witness details from the west side of Rio de Janeiro.

"It was terrifying, absolutely horrifying," De Freitas said. Emergency workers remained at the location after the incident. Police and fire officials continued examining the aircraft debris. Investigators were also reviewing how both helicopters came into contact while airborne.
