Saudi Arabia ends military operation in Yemen

Sanaa, April 22: The Saudi Arabia led coalition has announced to conclude almost month long bombing "Operation Decisive Storm" in crisis ridden Yemen, media reported.

Saudi Arabia and four other Gulf states, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) took part in the military operation in Yemen, Dawn online reported on Wednesday.

The Kingdom and its allies then launched air strikes in Yemen against Houthi fighters, who had tightened their grip in the southern city of Aden, where the country's president had taken refuge.

The campaign achieved its objectives "by a very good planning, very precise execution, by the courage of our pilots, our sailors, our soldiers," Brig. Gen. Ahmed Asiri was quoted as saying by the media.

The military raid was started in Yemen last month to thwart the threat on the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dawn online reported citing a statement issued by the authorities.

After concluding the military operation, Saudi government will begin a new operation called "Restoring Hope" aimed at protecting civilians and preventing Houthi fighters from operating.
