Republican Candidate Ramaswamy Cites Hindu Faith As Inspiration For Presidential Campaign

Vivek Ramaswamy, an Indian-American vying for the presidency, spoke about his Hindu faith and how it has spurred him to join the upcoming presidential race alongside fellow Republicans Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis.

Addressing 'The Family Leader' forum hosted by The Daily Signal, Ramaswamy drew parallels between Hinduism and Christianity, expressing his intention to champion shared values for the benefit of future generations.

"My faith grants me freedom and propelled me into this presidential campaign... As a Hindu, I believe in one true God and that each of us has a purpose ordained by God. It's our moral duty, guided by faith, to realize this purpose. We are God's instruments, equal because the divine resides within us. That's the essence of my faith," he articulated.

The 38-year-old entrepreneur and Republican candidate also emphasized the values instilled by his family, highlighting the sanctity of marriage, respect for parents, and the significance of fidelity.

"My upbringing stressed that family forms the bedrock... Marriage is sacred, advocating for abstinence before marriage. Adultery is condemned. Marriage, before God and family, entails an oath beyond mere preference," he explained.

He pledged to revive the importance of family, patriotism, hard work, and faith, asserting his commitment to setting examples for the next American generation if elected President next year.

Ramaswamy, originally from southwest Ohio, has seen increased attention for his presidential campaign and a rise in GOP primary polls, albeit trailing behind Donald Trump and Governor DeSantis in support.

On the same day, Ramaswamy, DeSantis, and Haley set aside their rivalries, sharing a Thanksgiving table in Des Moines. Despite Trump's absence, the Republican candidates engaged in an amicable exchange, addressing each other by their first names and finding common ground on various issues such as foreign policy, religious liberty, and agriculture.

Their congenial interaction marked a shift from previous debates characterized by heated exchanges, notably between Ramaswamy and Haley. The event, moderated by Family Leader President and CEO Bob Vander Plaats, provided a more collaborative and intimate platform, fostering emotional exchanges among the candidates who, despite their competition, displayed camaraderie.
