PM Modi's Respectful Response To Justin Trudeau's 'Congratulatory' Post

The oath of office for his third successive term as the Prime Minister of India was taken by Narendra Modi on Sunday.

After four days, the greetings extended by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for his Lok Sabha election win with a seemingly hidden message were graciously accepted by the newly sworn-in Prime Minister, but a stern comeback enveloped in a polite post on X was passed on.

PM Modi s Respectful Response To Justin Trudeau s Congratulatory Post

On June 6, two days after the Bharatiya Janata Party, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emerged as the single largest party in the Lok Sabha, Justin Trudeau had congratulated PM Modi on X. However, the message included mention of taking India and Canada's relationship forward, adding that the ties were anchored to human rights, diversity, and the rule of law.

"Congratulations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his electoral victory. Canada stands ready to work with his government to advance the relationship between our nations' peoples-anchored to human rights, diversity, and the rule of law," his office wrote on X.

In the same tone as the message received, a reply was sent by PM Modi, stating that India looks forward to working with Canada based on mutual understanding and respect for each other's concerns.

"Thank you @CanadianPM for the congratulatory message. India looks forward to working with Canada based on mutual understanding and respect for each others concerns," he wrote on X.

Notably, while replies to world leaders' posts on X are typically done on the same day, it took four days for a response to be made to the Canadian PM's message.

India-Canada relations Latest Update

Further, in May, India was "informed" by Canada about the arrest of three individuals in connection with the Nijjar murder case, more than seven months after Trudeau claimed that Indian government agents had a possible role in the killing of Nijjar, as reported by Indian Express.

The three nationals were charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. It was stated by India that Ottawa has "not shared any specific or relevant evidence or information till date". Additionally, a fourth Indian national was arrested in Canada in connection with the case just days after.
