PM Modi Gives Out 'Not Era Of War' Message From Poland Ahead Of Ukraine Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ahead of his landmark visit to Ukraine, highlighted India's commitment to peace in the volatile region, reiterating, "this is not an era of war," and stressing that conflicts should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue.

Amid chants of "Modi-Modi," he remarked, "Today's India wants to connect with all. Today's India talks about the development of all. Today's India is with all and thinks about the interests of all."

Modi also underscored India's tradition of empathy and assistance, saying, "Empathy is one of the identities of Indians. Whenever any trouble mounts in any country, India is the first country to extend help... India helps citizens of other countries. India believes in Buddha's tradition, therefore, believes in peace, not war."

This visit marks Modi's first to Ukraine and comes nearly six weeks after his high-profile trip to Russia, which drew criticism from the US and some Western allies. During his visit, Modi will engage with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, sharing perspectives on the peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict.

Modi's trip to Poland is also historic, being the first by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 45 years. He praised the Indian community in Poland for their support of Indian students during the 2022 Ukraine war, thanking both the community and the Polish government for their assistance. "You people helped the Indian students who were stuck in Ukraine... Poland, with their whole heart, opened their doors for our students," he acknowledged.

Highlighting India's democratic strength, Modi stated, "India is not only the mother of democracy, but it is also a participatory and vibrant democracy," referencing the recent elections in India as a testament to the country's unwavering faith in democratic processes.
